Great Birth Classes in Less Time
Baby just around the corner?  Busy lives?  A short class series is better than no birth classes at all!  This series is about birth, the whole birth, and nothing but birth.  The Birth Matters childbirth class series will give you a detailed look at what to expect from birth, and will give you pointers for what you can do to keep your birth normal.  Birth matters: learn what you need to know to make your Birth Day a day you will treasure in your heart.

Birth Matters!  a concise childbirth class series

What will the expectant mom learn in this class?
Almost every time, birth works exactly as it should to bring forth life.  This class has been constructed to help you appreciate the normal flow of childbirth, normal variations of labor, and help you trust how your body was designed.  You will gain confidence to listen to and work with your body to bring forth your baby in the safest way possible.  You will learn to trust your natural instincts as to which positions to use throughout your labor and what research has shown about the benefits of the positions laboring women choose instinctively.  You will practice a method of relaxation that reduces unnecessary pain and helps your labor to progress in an efficient manner.  While of course birth is unpredictable and no outcome can be guaranteed, this class is explicitly intended to be a "cesarean prevention" class, with the goal to reduce unnecessary cesareans by giving both of you the information and skills necessary to help your labor progress as comfortably as possible in a safe, efficient way.

What will labor partners learn?
Women give birth the best when they feel safe and loved; your role in her comfort and confidence as she gives birth is truly vital.  Laboring women give certain cues as to how close the actual birth is.  In this class series (as in all St. Croix Birth & Parenting birth classes) labor partners will learn how to recognize these cues so that they can best help the woman giving birth, no matter if her labor follows a typical pattern or is unusually fast or slow.  Actual practice of comfort measures helpful in different situations is an important part of the course.  You will also learn the pro's and con's of various interventions and will be given guidelines for how to tell when they are appropriate.  You will be given the skills to support her in a style that feels natural to you and how to access other resources she might need that also support normal childbirth.

Schedule your own series.  The class series consists of only four classes, 2 and a half hours each, and costs $100.  If you're interested in taking the class, please contact us.  We will get back to you shortly with registration information.

Please note: due to time constraints this class only covers topics directly concerning birth.  If you want a comprehensive series, covering pregnancy, birth, postpartum, breastfeeding, and parenting, please look at our Childbirth with Dignity class series.
