Specialty Childbirth Classes Most of the childbirth preparation classes available today prepare couples for birth in hospitals. The following specialty birth classes are designed for couples with "above average" birthing plans: couples who are preparing for Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC) or homebirth---or both. We want to help you prepare for your unique birthing experience by providing you with the information, resources and reassurance to make it possible for you to have the type of birth you are hoping to achieve.
 | Birthing at Home with Dignity
We are exuberant in our support for home birth. This class is a "special edition" of our 9-week Childbirth with Dignity class designed especially for couples who are planning home births. It contains all the features of our standard series, modified for the unique needs of couples planning home births. In addition to all of the information available in our Childbirth with Dignity class, couples taking this class will also receive:
- comprehensive preparation for what to expect during a homebirth
- practice of relaxation and comfort measures available at home
- thorough preparation for the husband's role during homebirth
- what to do if the baby comes before the midwife
- and what to expect if a transport to the hospital becomes necessary.
Class fee: $200 (discounts are available)

 | VBAC Facts
Although rates of Vaginal Births after Cesarean (VBACs) continue to plummet, determined couples can still have a VBAC. Couples struggle to get accurate, impartial information from proponents of both sides of the question. This is a one-time informational class that can be taken by itself or in addition to our childbirth course. This class presents couples with:
- a discussion of the politics of the cesarean surgery and VBAC and how things got to where they are today
- common causes of repeat cesarean and an even-handed discussion of its risks and potential benefits
- risks and potential benefits of VBAC
- what to expect during a VBAC, whether in the hospital or at home
- how to maximize your chances for a successful VBAC, if that is what you choose
Class fee: $35, includes materials (Pay only $25 if you also register for one of our childbirth series.)
