setting the stage for your natural birth
(Birth Matters Course, Session 4)

If you and your baby are healthy, expecting a normal birth, and hoping for a natural birth, homebirth is a wonderful choice. But homebirth isn't right for everyone. This class discusses the three different birth place options: home, free-standing birth center, and hospital-based birth center. Learn how to set the stage for your natural birth, no matter where you plan to give birth.
- Learn how your deep-seated beliefs about both home and hospital can influence the hormones orchestrating your birthing process
- Compare and contrast the pros and cons of all three types of birth places
- View births that occur at home, in a free-standing (independent) birth center, and a hospital
- Get valuable tips on how to prepare for a natural birth, no matter where you're planning to give birth
- Brainstorm ways to discuss your birthplace decision with loved ones
- Discuss possible obstacles to a natural birth that can occur in the various birth place options, and how to overcome those obstacles
- Learn what happens if a transfer of care (from home or indepedent birth center to hospital) becomes necessary
- Leave class either feeling reassured and confident in your choice of birthplace, or know what to do if you want to explore other possibilities
