Birth Complications, Trauma & Loss Services

While pregnancy and birth usually progress normally, sometimes mothers and babies experience complications that require medical interventions.  Many families experience these interventions as painful, shocking, or traumatic.  St. Croix Birth & Parenting sponsors an outreach ministry, Tiny Treasures Perinatal Resources, to help families with these unique needs during and following pregnancy.

It is our goal to support your emotional bond with your baby, and to minimize the stress and trauma you are experiencing, even though circumstances may be difficult.

Q. Can a birth where everything turned out okay be a traumatic birth?
A. Even if your birth was relatively "normal," you might still have experienced birth trauma due to the intensity of birth, things that happened to you or your baby or partner without your consent, or unexpected events that occurred in the time surrounding your birth. Please don't hesitate to seek help, even if your birth wasn't "that bad."
